As part of the Essential Quality Health Services for Universal Health Coverage (SSEQCU) Project, new medical equipment was deployed on September 11 and 12, 2025, in the Plateaux region. Newly built health facilities in the prefectures of Agou, Kpélé, Haho, and Ogou received new equipment essential for starting their activities. The SSEQCU project, implemented by the Togolese government with support from the World Bank, aims to provide essential health care and services to the most vulnerable populations, such as women, children, and the poor, in order to achieve universal health coverage. This deployment follows the recruitment and assignment of medical staff to make the facilities immediately operational. This initiative will be extended to all new health facilities built by the project across the country.

The equipment handover ceremony involved the peripheral health units (PHUs) of Glécopé, Kologan, Akpato, Govié, Tchadomé, Kpédikè, Agoto, Dindou, as well as those of Oké-Ekpa, Sada, and Agbonou. On the sidelines of this event, the staff concerned received training on a digital platform dedicated to equipment management and monitoring. This step ensures optimal use and maintenance. The deployment of this equipment is part of Component 2 of the project, which focuses on bringing health services closer to households.
