The Association for the Development of Social
and Solidarity Actions (ADAS), known as the "SGMT Foundation"
(Société Générale des Moulins du Togo) offered, on Wednesday 21 December 2022
in Baguida, educational kits of wooden games to seventeen (17) Public
Kindergartens (JEP) and the private kindergarten "La Véracité" of the
Inspection Lomé-Est. In total, 41 kits
and 18 logical blocks were distributed to these kindergartens. These kits will
facilitate learning through play in pre-school education programmes. The kits
were handed over to the educators by the president of the foundation. This was
in the presence of the inspector of Lomé-Est.
Pre-school
education is an essential step towards achieving universal primary education
and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This major challenge can be met
by integrating play into learning. Play or playful learning is an essential
component of early childhood education. It is within this framework that the
SGMT Foundation has set up a project called "Acquisition of wooden play
kits for kindergartens and nursery classes in the Gulf 6 zone". Through
this project, the foundation has offered seventeen (17) kindergartens
pedagogical kits of wooden games; this with the aim of reinforcing learning
through play in early childhood education programmes in schools of the Lomé-Est
inspection of the Gulf 6.
For
Eli Kodzo Apéli Ayémé, in charge of local development at the SGMT Foundation,
these kits support educators in the learning of pre-school children. Thanks to
the initiation of this project, the foundation hopes to strengthen its
collaboration with the Education Inspectorate of Lomé-Est, and thus develop actions
in the Golfe 6 commune.
For
the educator at the Jardin d'Enfant Baguida IV, Mrs. Takou Ame, representative
of the educators of the beneficiary schools, "these kits are well designed
and will allow us to better strengthen the knowledge of children. We thank the
foundation for the support it has always given us. We promise to make good use
of these educational kits.
The
Association for the Development of Social and Solidarity Actions (ADAS), known
as the "SGMT Foundation", is a non-profit, non-political and secular
Togolese association. It is the result of the corporate social responsibility
policy of the Société Générale des Moulins du Togo (SGMT) and supports the
initiatives of the communities of Katanga, Gbétsogbé and Noudo Kopé thanks to a
comprehensive support methodology and targeted funding.
