Prostate cancer is a disease that only
affects men. At least 1 in 7 men over the age of 60 is likely to be affected.
It is difficult to detect in its early stages. It is therefore asymptomatic.
Signs are detectable when the cancer reaches its advanced stage. That's why
specialists advise men from the age of 55 to have check-ups at least once a
year, in order to detect the disease at an early stage. Here's what prostate
cancer is and the symptoms that herald its final stage.
Prostate cancer is a disease in which
the tumour remains confined to the prostate and has minor health consequences.
As it progresses, prostate cancer may present symptoms identical to those of
other diseases, including fatigue, nausea, loss of appetite, swollen legs and
weak joints.
It is a cancer that affects the
prostate. The prostate is a gland located in the male genital tract whose main
function is to secrete part of the seminal fluid, a component of sperm, and to
store it. The prostate is located in the pelvic cavity, above the perineum
below the bladder. Prostate cancer is
diagnosed by ultrasound and/or biopsy. When detected at an early stage,
prostate cancer is cured in 95% of cases.

what you eat
Several studies have clearly
established the link between diet and prostate cancer. Men who eat a lot of
animal fats and dairy products are more exposed to obesity and more at risk of
developing prostate cancer. However, men who eat a diet based mainly on fruit,
vegetables and fish are less exposed to this cancer.
Warning
signs
Prostate cancer presents the following
signs: difficulty standing up to
urinate, frequent urges to urinate during the night, difficulty starting or
holding urine, low urine output, burning sensation when urinating, presence of
blood in the urine, presence of blood in the semen, problems with ejaculation,
pain felt in the hips, thighs and lower back, pain in the lower abdomen; bone
pain in the lower back linked to the progression of the disease in the
vertebrae, erectile dysfunction.
As soon as one or more of these signs
appear, it's vital to see a specialist for prompt treatment.
