The National Institute of Hygiene (INH) held its annual management review 2022 on 13 and 14 February 2023 in Lomé. Heads of departments, supervisors and their deputies made the annual evaluation of the Quality Management System (QMS) in order to identify ways to improve the quality of INH services.

In the implementation and monitoring of the quality management system, the management review occupies an important place and constitutes a decision-making tool in the functioning of the National Institute of Hygiene.   In order to improve the services provided, the National Institute of Hygiene (INH) carried out its annual management review for 2022. Each department reviewed its activities, presented the results achieved, assessed the status of the achievement of the objectives, identified challenges, presented strengths and weaknesses, evaluated previous suggestions, and made recommendations to the management. This review thus offers a panel for exchange and reinforcement of the QMS in relation to the current and future challenges in terms of normative and customer requirements, but also defines the basis for a good preparation for future assessments of laboratories and services.

During these two days of activities, the various actors of the quality of the INH and the managing staff worked on the assessment of the activities of the year 2022, that is to say December 2021 to November 2022, the changes of the external and internal stakes relevant for the laboratories. They reviewed the use of quality indicators and the achievement of objectives, the periodic review of prescriptions and requirements concerning samples, the progress of actions decided upon following previous management reviews and risk management and preventive actions.

The management review also provided an opportunity to observe the results of participation in inter-laboratory comparison programmes and evaluations carried out by external bodies.   At the end of this management review, a quality plan and an action plan for the review were drawn up.
